Miracle Babies Signs on to Letter Supporting H.R. 1318/S. 1112: Preventing Maternal Deaths Act

Miracle Babies was invited to join a notable group of organizations in signing a letter to the U.S. House and Senate majority leaders, urging them to bring the Preventing Maternal Deaths Act to a vote before the end of the calendar year. The letter, signed by Miracle Babies and groups such as the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, American Hospital Association, American Medical Association, Association of Womens Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses, and March of Dimes appeals to members of Congress to address the growing maternal health crisis resulting in more women dying from pregnancy-related complications in the U.S. than in any other developed country.

“Preventing Maternal Deaths Act” was signed into law on December 21, 2019. The bipartisan bill authorizes funding for states to create review committees to identify maternal deaths, analyze the factors that contributed to these deaths, and translate the lessons into policy changes. By collecting accurate data and studying maternal deaths and near-deaths, experts can understand how they might be prevented
